PH 101: Principles of Public Health
This course provides an overview of the most important issues and topics related to public health departments and public health practice. This course is available online through the Pacific Public Health Training Center http://pphtc.org/training/course_descr/course_ph101.htm and takes approximately six hours to complete.

SPA 7306 Audiologic Assessment in a Medical Setting (5 credits)
Medically related aspects of audiologic practice including the assessment of disorders in the peripheral and central auditory systems and management within the medical setting.

SPA 7318 Applied Auditory Electrophysiology (5 credits)
Comprehensive survey of theoretical and applied auditory physiological measures including evoked neural responses, otoacoustic emissions and the role these measures have in the audiologic test battery.

SPA 7319 Balance Disorders: Evaluation and Treatment (5 credits)
The etiology, symptomatology, assessment and treatment options in disorders of the vestibular system.

SPA 7325 Audiologic Rehabilitation/Auditory Processing Disorders
(5 credits)
Approaches to audiologic management of adults and children with hearing difficulties, including auditory training, speech reading, interdisciplinary teaming, communication repair strategies, technology, and hearing aid adjustment. Topics in auditory processing disorders include neuroanatomy, development, clinical test administration and interpretation, diagnostics and management strategies.

SPA 7343 Cochlear Implants and Assistive Technology (5 credits)
Applied and theoretical principals in cochlear implants including candidacy and programming considerations and selection and evaluation of assistive devices for individuals with hearing loss.

SPA 7348 Principles of Amplification (5 credits)
The applied and theoretical principles in hearing aid selection procedures including real-ear, speech perception, subjective quality measurement, analog and digital amplification, and selection/evaluation for special populations.

SPA 7353 Occupational and Environmental Hearing Conservation
(5 credits)
The effects and management of intense noise, forensic audiology, industrial audiology, and leisure noise exposure.

SPA 7566 Counseling Individuals with Hearing Loss (5 credits)
The impact of hearing impairment on the individual and in a social context with an emphasis on assessment and amelioration of psychosocial function; counseling techniques for the individual with hearing impairment and significant others, and the effects of age-related changes in health, psychological and social functioning on communication behaviors.

SPA 7391 Business and Professional Issues in Hearing Health Care
(5 credits)
Overview private practice Audiology, the healthcare system and Audiology in system, Coding and Reimbursement, personnel management, basic practice management, marketing, and sales. Discussions of current issues facing the profession, ethics and malpractice in audiologic practice and infection control.
